Mercedes-Benz GLA: A Well-Kept Secret
December 28 2021,
When you shop at Mercedes-Benz, there’s no shortage of choice. In fact, it has the largest selection in the industry, period. It can be hard to keep up with everything in the lineup, such as the GLA SUV that joined the family a few years ago and is a really interesting choice for anyone looking for a small SUV.
Mercedes-Benz Blainville on the North Shore of Montreal near Terrebonne, Laval, Boisbriand and Saint-Jérôme has breathtaking Mercedes-Benz vehicles for sale. Your dealership in Blainville awaits you with new Mercedes-Benz vehicles or used Mercedes-Benz models.
Its Style
Very few products on the market can claim to offer a decidedly sporty style. That’s not the case with the GLA, whose lines radiate sportiness. This SUV leans forward and is well grounded. From the rear, the sloping tailgate makes a great impression, and from the side, even when stopped, the Mercedes GLA looks like it’s speeding away.
Three GLAs
Beyond its style, the secret of the Mercedes-Benz GLA is that it is available to consumers in a variety of ways. In concrete terms, there are three versions in the catalogue, but we’re not just talking about three trim levels offering different ranges of equipment. That’s of course the case, but it’s the core of each variant that makes it possible to really enjoy three GLAs within the Mercedes-Benz family.
GLA 250 4Matic
The entry-level GLA 250 is quite a car. It comes with the company’s virtual cockpit, as well as the industry-leading MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system. So we’re not outdone by this proposal.
Mechanically, it’s powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that delivers 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. 4Matic all-wheel drive is standard, and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the wheels.
All of this allows the GLA 250 4Matic to do 0-100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, a more than respectable time.
AMG GLA 35 4Matic
Next, we have the choice of moving on to the first of two variants reworked by the AMG group, the GLA 35. This one uses the same 4-cylinder engine block, except that this time, its settings allow for 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This takes the experience to another level, as the 0-100 km/h time of the GLA 35 disappears in just 5.2 seconds.
There’s still an eight-speed automatic transmission, but it’s called Speedshift. The truth is that its settings make it quicker to execute. For some, the GLA 35 is the perfect compromise between the base offering and the one described below.
AMG GLA 45 4Matic
With the GLA 45, we push the limits, but still thanks to the same mechanics. This time, the assembly is done by hand and is signed by AMG. In the end, this gives us a capacity of 382 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. All this is enough to turn the GLA into a pure sports car, as it takes only 4.4 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. Behind the wheel of an SUV, it’s mind-blowing!
The automatic transmission performs extraordinarily well here, as does the all-wheel drive system that allows us to hit the road with confidence.
Customizable
The beauty of each of these variants is that they can be spoiled with different option packages. So, when you buy one or the other, you can customize your GLA to your liking and make it your own. And regardless of the version, the feeling behind the wheel is both reassuring and exhilarating; the GLA is a fun-to-drive SUV! The Mercedes-Benz Blainville team is waiting for you!
