If you are wondering which model is right for you, let’s take a look at how the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV compares to the EQS SUV in terms of pricing, performance, range, and more.
Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV versus Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Price
The easiest way to describe the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and EQS SUV is to look at the current Mercedes-Benz gas-powered vehicle lineup. The EQE SUV is the equivalent of the GLE while the EQS SUV is the equivalent of the GLS. Therefore, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is the more luxurious of the two and the more expensive with a starting price of $136,000 for the EQS 450 4MATIC trim. The top EQS 580 4MATIC trim starts at $158,500.
We don't have full pricing details on the EQS SUV just yet, but you can expect it to be more affordable than the EQS SUV and it will likely have a starting price of around $75,000. The EQE SUV will offer two versions with an AMG model on the way as well. That model will likely start at over $100,000 and it will deliver exceptional performance.
As we await final pricing for the EQS SUV, you can at least take for granted that it is the more affordable of the two.
Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV versus Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Performance
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will come in three versions as mentioned previously. The entry-level EQE 350 4MATIC model will feature 288 hp and up to 564 pound-feet of torque. This will allow it to reach 100 km/h in just over six seconds. The more powerful EQE 500 4MATIC will offer 402 horsepower and up to 633 pound-feet of torque The other version is the advanced Mercedes-AMG EQE 4MATIC SUV which features two high-performance electric motors on each axle. The electric motor up front delivers 221 hp while the E-Motor in the back delivers 396 hp. Total output is an impressive 677 hp along with up to 738 pound-feet of torque. This is enough to power the first Mercedes-AMG electric SUV to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
The EQS SUV slots right in the middle of the models described above. It also features two electric motors that combined offer 516 hp and 631 pound-feet of torque in the top-of-the-line EQS 580 4MATIC trim. This powers the large Mercedes-Benz electric SUV to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. The EQS 450 4MATIC has the same layout, but delivers 335 horsepower, enough to reach 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds. Both models feature the added benefit of all-wheel drive capability.
We would tell you that every single one of these models will deliver a level of performance that will exceed your expectations. Each offer immediate accelerations with little hesitation and they all offer the all-weather stability and confidence of all-wheel drive. They also offer an impressive array of driving modes so that you can tailor the performance to your liking.
Range and charging
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV features a 107.8-kWh battery that enables up to 459 km of all-electric range in both the EQS 450 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC trims. The EQS SUV can charge at up to 200 kW which allows it to charge from 10% to 80% in 37 minutes. Range for the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV hasn’t been confirmed. However, expect that the base EQE 350 4MATIC and EQE 500 4MATIC models will offer around 425 km of range while the AMG EQE SUV will offer about 500 km. Still, compared to their respective competitors, both the EQE SUV and EQS SUV provide outstanding all-electric freedom.
In terms of size, the EQE SUV is about 10 inches shorter than the EQS SUV but the wheelbase is just 2 inches shorter. That means that you get a lot of interior space in the EQE SUV. It will certainly be one of the most versatile electric SUVs in its segment while the EQS SUV delivers class-leading cargo capacity and rear space.
