Range and charging

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will come in two versions (plus the Mercedes-AMG EQE which we will cover in a different article), the EQE 350 4MATIC and the EQE 500 4MATIC. Both share the same battery and 400-volt architecture and a 90.6-kWh battery that should provide over 400 km of range in both versions. The actual EPA's range has not been confirmed yet, but based on what we have seen from other Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles, we expect it to provide more than enough range for both your weekly commutes and longer trips. We can expect over 400 kilometres of range in the new EQE SUV.

The EQE SUV can charge at up to 170 kW on a fast charger, taking the batteries charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. There is a 9.6-kW onboard charger standard (a 22-kW charger is optional) which allows you to charge at home on a level II charger in under 10 hours.

Mercedes-Benz engineers wanted to make sure that range and charging was never an issue in the new EQE SUV and whether you are charging at home or on the road, the charging time will surpass your expectations while the overall range should be among the best in the segment. This is true of the larger EQS SUV as well. 

Performance and agility

The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will come standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive in both the EQE 350 SUV and the EQE 500 SUV. Both models feature Permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) with one motor on each axle powering the front and back wheels. The difference between the EQE SUV 350 and the EQE SUV 500 can be found in how much power these individual electric motors provide.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 SUV delivers 288 hp with 569 pound-feet of torque. The Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 SUV provides significantly more performance, delivering 402 hp and an impressive 633 pound-feet of torque. That will be enough to power the EQE 500 to 100 km/h in under 5.0 seconds while the EQE 350 SUV will do the same thing in under 6.0 seconds.

It is not just the performance that matters, but also how a vehicle handles and its agility. Mercedes-Benz made sure that the EQE SUV is just as dynamic around a corner as it is in a straight line. The EQE SUV features a four-link suspension upfront and a multi-link rear suspension while an AIRMATIC adaptive suspension system is optional. The suspension automatically adjusts damping levels to provide the perfect balance of comfort and handling while also adjusting to the way the EQE SUV is being driven. It's also worth noting that the EQE SUV has a relatively short wheelbase of just over 3000 mm. This further contributes to creating a very controllable and very dynamic electric luxury SUV.

The new EQE SUV will also come with DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes that further enhance the driving experience. Mercedes-Benz owners will be familiar with these types of driving modes which in the EQE SUV include ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, and INDIVIDUAL.

There is also an impressive OFFROAD mode for those who need to take their EQE SUV on more difficult drives. If you are driving up a snow-covered hill on the way to the mountains or you have to take a dirt road in the woods to get to your cottage, the OFFROAD mode is the perfect option. It is also possible to raise the ground clearance of the EQE SUV by 30 mm or 3 cm, allowing you to cross difficult terrain in complete confidence.
